The Cake Mix Cookie Recipe from Oath Sworn…and More!

I wanted to make sure everyone knew this recipe. K.N. shared it in the Facebook group years ago now. She gave the basic recipe, and I added some extras and converted it to the best of my ability for our international audience.

You can absolutely have fun with this recipe and mix and match all over the place. Experiment. Have fun.

You need:

A Box of Cake Mix
1teaspoon/4g of Baking Powder
1 or 2 large Eggs
⅓ cup/79mL Vegetable Oil or 1 stick (American)/113g Melted Butter|
1teaspoon/4g Vanilla Extract
Extras (sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc. optional)

Preheat oven to 350F/176C.

Use any cake mix you like. The brand really doesn’t matter, but everyone has their favorites. So, use what you like.

Take the box of cake mix and the baking powder and mix them together in a large bowl. Take the wet ingredients (Eggs, Oil/Butter, and Vanilla) and mix them together separately from the dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Once the wet ingredients are incorporated into the dry, add the optional extras. (try not to overmix).

Now, why did I say 1 or 2 large eggs? 2 eggs give softer chewy cookies that need to be scooped. 1 gives crispier cookies that can be rolled into balls.

Bake for 10-12 minutes and let rest for 2-3 minutes.

Also, try them with cake icing.

Fun fact. Pillsbury uses softened/room temp cream cheese instead of butter or oil for the strawberry version.

Next time, we will be taking on Heath’s Mash Potatoes.
