Before you read this: This can POSSIBLY contain SPOILERS on the character, Quinn Judge. Read this at your own discretion, since he’s not revealed much information about himself in the books to Sawyer and this is in his head. This is in a completely unedited, first draft state. Expect typos/errors by the butt-load.
Quinn knew she was out with Vincent and would be with Elijah afterwards.
The female hadn’t been in the house for even a few days and he found himself perturbed by her existence. Intrigued at the same time, which annoyed him further.
He knew a temper founded in abuse when he felt one. Her magic flaring out in the kitchen, through the inhibitor, was telling of her power and maybe even some of her past.
He was going to be nosy. He left Scout to do his job, scout. Out in the woods, the wolf would keep watch for her coming back. Shade stayed at the bottom of the stairs to the attic, to give him a final warning if she snuck past Scout somehow.
He didn’t see that happened, but it had to be considered. He’d heard the run down of her different magics already. She was naturally elusive, on top of looking to be a fierce opponent in a fight.
Once in her room. Quinn went immediately to the closet, knowing people liked to tuck things away in, hide them from sight in the easiest of ways.
He only found bags of clothing that she didn’t put away, still in suitcases and bags. He didn’t care about what it all was. He wasn’t there to steal her underwear. He knew that reference. Elijah told him people didn’t appreciate it and it was considered weird. He’d only stole Vincent’s that once because it was a good article of clothing to track with.
The closet gave him nothing. That bothered him in some way. Surely she had something to hide.
He left it all as he found it, reclosing the suitcases. He had the time to leave things as he found them. She would never know he’d done any of this.
He closed the closet door and went to the dresser. She’d barely put any clothing away. Nothing else. This was annoying.
Next he wandered to the bedside table and slid open the top draw. Nothing.
The bottom draw was interesting.
Purple and bullet shaped, Quinn frowned, unable to deny his curiosity at the new object. He’d never seen anything like it.
Pulling it out, he marveled at the feeling of it for a moment. Like a plastic velvet. Strange. He’d need to ask Elijah eventually what it was made of.
A button at the top made him more curious. He pressed it and jumped when it started to vibrate. It dropped to the floor and he cursed softly to himself. Picking it up, he wondered how to turn it off. Pressing the button just made it vibrate faster and it was the only button. He pressed against and it vibrated to a beat.
He was confused, annoyed, and now worried he would need to ask someone how to fix the predicament he found himself in. Which would tell the guys and her that he’d gone through her things.
He knew it had to be battery operated in some way, so he began to study it, and saw what he needed. He twisted a section and it unscrewed, falling into 2 parts, the battery sliding out. It was thankfully off now.
He had no idea what this thing was even for but it was by far the most interesting thing he’d found yet. He knew what a laptop was, which she had on her desk and he didn’t care about her clothing.
This thing was just strange and interesting. Curious. He would need to ask Elijah about it one day. Maybe. Asking about it might give him away for snooping.
He put it back together and was pleased that it didn’t turn back on. He put it away and closed the drawer.
Shaking his head at the entire incident, he looked over to her desk. He sat down in the chair they had provided her and ignored the laptop. He didn’t know how to use it and had refused to learn so far. He just didn’t care. He could barely read any of it, so it was a useless tool to him. She could use it. She was raised like normal people.
He pulled the shoebox closer and considered it. Why was this on her desk?
He pulled off the lid and snarled with emotions he didn’t understand.
Pictures.
He could understand pictures.
She was hiding her secrets in plain sight.
Smart female. He was a little pissed at it.
He pulled out some and narrowed his eyes on younger versions of Zander and Jasper. Yes, this was their female. He knew that. He didn’t like it. It meant she was likely to survive her stay. It was another reason not to end her. Jasper and Zander were his packmates, his brothers. They would hate him for it, no matter the reason.
He flipped through them quickly. He watched her grow from young child to lanky teenager then the photos stopped for that section.
He put them back in and went to the next. He saw the faces he knew from the research about her life in New York. She protected children. A warrior and an Alpha. She led them. He knew these things, but still he wanted to hate this female. She wasn’t supposed to be redeemable.
He put those back in quicker, less interested.
The last set of photos were the most interesting by far.
And they told him that her secrets were deep. Interesting.
He saw a young boy that looked similar to Vincent. Coincidence most likely. A small black house cat.
Who were they? Where were they? These two weren’t present in New York. His questions grew when he saw a picture of all of them together. Sawyer was younger. She wasn’t as scarred. She wasn’t as toned and built.
She held the boy like a mother held her son.
She looked at her cat like a Magi looked at an animal bond.
He knew what she said. She’d never had an animal bond. Or… rather Vincent told him that she just didn’t have one.
Secrets.
He’d found some. He didn’t know what they meant yet, but he knew they meant something.
Before putting the photos away, he considered some options. She handled these photos often. They were obviously precious to her. He could feel her magic in them, apart of them at this point.
He took the group picture, gently folded it and slid it into his pocket. If she ran, he would have the best possible object to find her. He could track someone across the globe with an object so precious. She wouldn’t be able to hide.
And if she ran, when he caught her, he could demand answers to her secrets before he killed her. No. He couldn’t kill her. She was Zander and Jasper’s female, not just a female. Secrets and trying to be free were not offenses that deserved death either.
He stood up, leaving the desk and photos as he found them. He left her room, considering these secrets.
The Alpha female was out there with his friend now, Elijah. He would keep an eye on them now, with Scout and Shade. He had to make sure she didn’t turn treacherous.
He had a sneaking suspicion she wouldn’t, but he refused to trust his instincts. Females were always treacherous, and he didn’t want to think this one would be any different.
Too bad she was already changing everything, including him.
He should have killed her already and already couldn’t bring himself too. He was always considering the excuses to why he shouldn’t.
He made it down the stairs, Shade falling into step with him, asking him with curious emotions what he found.
Quinn didn’t know what he found, so he didn’t show his brother the picture.
