Since the last post I made, which was covering just what I’ve been up to for the last year and then some, I have been working on admin!
Yaaaay. (read this with lots of sarcasm because who really likes admin?)
The ***ing Newsletter:
First up was the blasted newsletter. You know, there are so many wonderful people out there who are so good at newsletters and communicating and keeping everyone up to date with dedicated emails. I am not one of them. If you give me too many admin things to do every week, I quickly have problems with my ADHD. It’s a slog. Newsletters became a “how do I post the blog again” problem. Because I find it hard to create even more news for a new platform. It was just… difficult.
So I have finally decided there is no dedicated “newsletter”. Why? Because it would tell you the same things the blogs tell you. Hence forth, this blog is my newsletter. When I need to say anything, it will be here. It will be sent in place of a newsletter. Just this blog. All news. Does that mean there’s no fun gimmicks for getting people to sign up like an excerpt of an unreleased book or a POV chapter that I wrote as fun? Yeah. But that doesn’t mean those things won’t be on the blog at all. It just means that… everyone gets them. You sign up for the newsletter, you get an email when I post a blog. That’s all. You’ll have it delivered straight to your inbox. It could be a life update. It could be a preorder. It could be a POV or an excerpt or a teaser. In fact, here’s a sneaky one:
~Unedited Teaser for Jacky Leon 13~
Passing Kick Shot, my sister Zuri got a laugh at the new window art. Oliver, the sweet man, had decided to start a countdown to the wedding. In bold, red letters inside a heart.
HEATH AND JACKY
10 DAYS!
Adorable, Oliver. Really.
Back to the newsletter situation. See? You just got a teaser in your newsletter. Woo! As with all things, I don’t plan on posting too often in a week. Aiming for 1-2 a week. I want to share things with all of you. I just needed time to heal and prepare myself to come back to the internet, in a sense. I kept trying to force it before I was ready. I feel more ready now. Combining the blog and the newsletter is just my way of making this return easier on me because I need things to be easier on me. The healing I need to overcome the burn out I was in will forever be happening. There had to be concessions. This is a big one.
So if you haven’t, sign up for the newsletter. You won’t have to be reliant on finding the post in my Facebook group or page anymore or missing a post which could be a preorder or a release. Also, I plan on stepping back from replying too much on Facebook or being in the group, something I had already started. The blog is my space. Much more likely to reply here.
Next up the…
Old POVs (Points of View/Shorts/Free Extra Content)
Well, well, well. So, a very long time ago, I would write a POV short and post it in the Facebook group. This was before the Patreon, which was now 4 years ago. These are even older. Well, in 2022, one of my best friends and lovely wonderful helper, Erika (you know her, you love her, she gives you audiobooks) started transferring those very old POVs here to the blog. They are all dated back in 2022. They are the POVs mostly from Age of the Andinna and The Redemption Saga. They’re here now. You can find them under that series or the POV/Shorts sections of the blog. Here.

Eventually, the less old Patreon POVs will be moved here as well. But that’s a discussion for the last section maybe?
Patreon?
I can’t tell you how sad I was that everything went wrong right as I launched my Patreon in 2022. I fail to describe how much that lived with me, thinking I was an utterly failure because I had made promises than couldn’t deliver. It’s really not my fault that I had developed nerve damage in my hand at the worst time. Then the burnt out hit as everything came crashing down around me as the support system I thought I had was… not great. Not very good at all. But it took a long time for me to overcome the feelings of being a fuck up. Not sorry for the hard language there. I had tried to make sure no one was ever charged with a month I couldn’t deliver and once it all became unsustainable, I closed it like a reasonable and responsible person so I could step away and recover the way my body and mind needed to.
But I live with the fact that I always wanted to make it work. I put so much into the Patreon. I felt like I was on top of the world the day I announced it. It had been such as fun project to put together. And now the itch is back. The itch to write. The itch to share. The itch to try things again. So perhaps Erika and I have been in some talks. Perhaps we’ve been discussing if I can step back up to that plate, even if it’s not the same… Perhaps.
We’ll see. Let’s get to the old POVs from the original Patreon. They’re going to come to the blog. Perhaps with some edits. Not like sent to an editor, but more me re-reading them and making some writing edits. Because I can’t stop myself. I’ll make it a project to make sure you have a blog once a week. Erika and I talked a lot about putting them into a novel and releasing them. I considered the idea for a long time. I think just drip feeding them to the wider public is the option.
In fact, I don’t think there will ever be private POVs again. Well, Kay (this is what friends call me, it’s a long story. I’ll tell you if you’d like, comment and let me know), what do you mean by that? Weren’t you just saying you and Erika were discussing you trying Patreon again? Yeah. Let’s just say that if Patreon returns and POVs are involved, they won’t be strictly Patreon works. That’s all. It’s just a thought I’ve been having. Perhaps the Patreon could have a goal and the reward is a public POV for every month the goal is met. Something like that.
But those are thoughts for another day. In closing, I’m working. It’s good work. I’m… actually happy to be working again. To be writing again. Reminder, I’m currently working on Jacky Leon 13. Fun times. Very excited about this book. Very excited about future projects. Will I ever be as productive as I used to be? No. That’s been something I’ve had to come to terms with, just like I’ve also had to come to terms with how many opportunities I missed because of everything as well. But I can find my new best. One that satisfies all of you and allows me to be the best version of myself now after everything has unfolded, not just as a writer or author, but as a healthy human who tries to take care of herself more.
Now, sign up for the newsletter. Remember to click confirm when you get the confirmation email.

And if you’re wondering who that black haired woman is in the image for this blog, also seen at the top of my Facebook page recently… well, just keep an eye out. I’ll reveal it eventually. She’s been featured around for a really long time, but you all finally noticed her. Guess it’s time to, you know, subscribe. Muahahaahahahaa
Bye!
Will it… be… a… witch series?!?!? 😱😱😱
So very sorry for the struggles. I’ve had some of my own, and I know how hard it is to keep going. We are all very glad you have and do.
Not trying to pressure, just encourage, we are all really excited for the next JL, and for anything else ! 💕💕
Now I’m going to have to go back and reread the Redemption series. I read it long ago and haven’t been back.
I’m sorry to hear you went through so much all together.
I’ve always really enjoyed reading your blogs, I missed them but I understand sometimes life gets in the way of things. I’m very glad to hear you will be back with blogs!
I would be happy to join Patreon again if you open a channel again. I might have the app still somewhere on my phone.
I’m more excited now about Jacky that I could ever be! Thank you for the snippet!
Can’t wait to hear more from you!
Since no one asked yet, what is the story behind your friends calling you Kay?
Are you maybe possibly hinting at a witch? Are you thinking of adding a witch base to the series?
Answers will come in a future blog
I just reread the Redemption Saga! Glad to hear you’re moving ahead positively. Would love to know why they call you Kay. Gotta be more than it’s your first initial, right?
Glad the itch is back!! The itch to write. No other itches they are just vile.
We don’t care about patreon and other things. I mean that in the nicest possible way. We need you to stay healthy because if you are not healthy, we get no books. And honest, the amount of brain power and memory you put into those books is incredible. Can’t wait for all the pretties! And jacky ❤️
Isn’t the fourth woman Olivia? I thought we had a discussion about it on Facebook a long time ago when it first appeared and came to that conclusion but my guess could be wrong and I could be misremembering.
Nope! Olivia is a brunette, and she has a cover that has floated around. It has that wolf in the background and blue magic and she’s sitting down. It’s all blue and purple.
Okay maybe I haven’t seen it then
I just realized that you meant there’s a picture at the top of this blog I can’t really see it for some reason it must be the settings or whatever on my phone it doesn’t let me see the picture that you have posted.
